So, I am about to delve into an entirely new world. I've been hanging on the fringes for a while now, but with this years tax return, I'm finaly about to take the plunge.
I am going to try and become "A Maker".
Now, this is not religious or anything like that. The maker movement is simply a lot of people that are tending toward doing things themselves. Rather than depend on things made by other people, they are making the things themselves, even if it requires a lot of work.
The quintessential piece of my new maker transformation is the purchase of our very first 3D printer. I will attempt to document every step of my journey here, to help others who may be inclined to begin the journey as well.
First a little something about me.
I am in my mid-thirties as of writing this. I am happily married and have a tenacious toddler son. I have a background that includes both art and science. I am a woman, who is a little intimidated by the very male heavy world of makers, and hope to prove to both others and myself that even without special training, a woman can be an amazing maker.
I will post more about my new printer as soon as it arrives tomorrow!
